A couple of weeks ago we discussed thick, coarse, curly hair. I think it's only fair that we address some of the problems concerning fine, limp and sometimes seemingly lifeless hair. Summertimes humidity can make it seem that all of the time you spend in the morning blow drying, straightening and curling is time wasted.
Here's why. Fine hair generally has a higher moisture content than normal. It has a tendency to attract and retain moisture right out of the atmosphere. That's why on summer days when the humidity is high it seems that no matter how much effort you put into styling your hair, it ends up being a limp, lifeless mess. Frustating, isn't it. There is help.
Since healthy, manageable hair has a good balance between moisture and protein, when shopping for products look for those designed for fine, limp hair. They will help to reduce the amount of moisture in the hair, making it more manageable and helping you to keep your finished style for a longer period of time. Your styling products should be humidity resistant to help combat the effects of atmospheric moisture. There are many great products on the market. We will review some of them tomorrow but as always we recommend that you ask your stylist wich products are best for your hair's specific needs.
